JDRM Engineering was selected to complete an assessment of the existing infrastructure condition and configuration. From that assessment a facility upgrade was designed. The design was followed through with permit documents, construction documents, bidding and construction administration including project close out for the Maumee Bay State Park Campground electrical improvements.
The project brought the entire campground facility up to the level of electrical service requirements of present-day recreational vehicles and camping equipment; 50A outlets were made available at all campsites. The complete electrical distribution system was replaced including the utility medium voltage feeders and transformers. New electrical distribution panels were placed within each camp road to distribute to the campsites.
In addition to the power upgrades lighting upgrades were made. Pathways to the shower buildings from the campsites were upgraded to include bollard lighting. The lighting was selected to provide pathway illumination while minimizing the disturbances to the campsites. Lighting was added to the camp road intersections. The lighting was selected to have minimal glare and to include motion sensors. The light level will increase when there is activity present.
The project was brought in under budget with alternates that were beyond the original base scope of renovations. The work was completed smoothly during the pandemic with construction being split into additional phases to allow campground use during the summer months.
