Veterans Services (DVS.) Originally opened in 1888 to care for veterans of the Civil War, this 427-bed nursing home facility offers two levels of care: standard care for those veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and special care for veterans with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. The facility additionally includes 209 domiciliary beds for residents that are capable of independent living. To increase resident safety and quality of life, Ohio Veterans Home renovated the central communications center and replaced the CCTV system at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. The communications center is the nucleus for life safety components for the Sandusky home and serves as a safety support center for the Georgetown home.
