Cutting Edge Countertops Expansion

Perrysburg, Ohio

Mechanical

The HVAC systems included heating and ventilation of the plant and shipping areas utilizing radiant tube heaters and ventilation fans and intake louvers. The compressor room utilizes a ventilation system to either exhaust air to the outdoors or into the plant based on the outside air temperature and plant air temperature. The office area is heated and cooled by constant volume single zone packaged rooftop units, with a ductless split system to heat and cool the entry and stairwell. The office system is set up to maintain positive pressure in relationship to the plant area.

Electrical

The electrical service of the building was increase by a factor of 4X from 400 amps to 1600 amps. The building’s service was phased to maintain full functionality of the existing service while the new service was constructed. The existing service was then back fed from the new service, never interrupting building power and nor causing production delays. The new service was designed to support production of three additional future lines. A 500KW diesel generator was installed to provide full building backup and life safety power in the event of utility power failure. Diesel storage tanks were sized to accommodate up to a 3-day outage. The lighting design was based on a continuation of the existing lighting layout with a bump in average foot-candle levels while utilizing high output LED luminaires in lieu of the existing 6-lamp T5 fluorescent fixtures. All of the lighting design complies energy requirements of ASHRAE 90.12010 which was not yet adopted at the time of construction

Plumbing

The plumbing systems included the design and coordination of relevant plumbing systems necessary for Owner specific manufacturing process and administration expansion. Systems included sanitary drainage, natural gas, compressed air and water supply systems consisting of domestic water systems, grey water systems and non-potable water systems. Technology

Technology design included the creation of a new telecommunications closet to service the new expansion, providing data connectivity to the new office areas as well as CNC machines on the plant floor. Ample wireless network coverage was provided throughout the facility to accommodate handheld wireless devices used for plant operations. New interior and exterior surveillance cameras were installed to provide coverage of the new expansion. Audio visual elements included a projector screen and sound system in the training room as well as large format monitors on the plant floor to display production status.
