The site/building projected electrical demand indicates that the site would require a Customer Owned substation.
The substation was designed to provide a 138kV to 12.47kV transformation via 2-30 MVA transformers.
The substation was developed in concert with a Utility Detailed Load Study and their recommendations and requirements for design.
Items that were included are:
Primary 145kV dead tank circuit breaker
High Speed Ground Switch
Primary Utility revenue metering CT’s/PT’s
Provisions for CCVT’s (provides ability for Customer to install on-site generation in the future)
Overhead busway
Transformer 145kV primary dead tank circuit breaker (Each transformer)
30MVA transformer and associated devices
2-3000A 15kV distribution switchgear (each transformer)
All relay and protection settings for 15kV circuits
Coordination of all protection elements with Utility metering and protection departments
Witness and coordination with Utility and 3rd Party Commissioning
14 – 15kV distribution feeder loops that provide a redundant loop thru the site and building power distribution requirements.
Project Details
JDRM Engineering provided mechanical, electrical and technology engineering services for a new R & D Facility of approximately 1.5MM sq ft that included
R & D spaces, central plant,
office, warehouse/shipping, etc. spaces. The overall site power requirements required services via an onsite utility transmission level substation to develop sufficient medium voltage power for the site/campus needs.
