Emergency Back-Up Power for Entire Hospital Campus
The project involved design for a total onsite emergency back-up for the hospital campus back feeding a 34.5 kV system in need of additional and reliable emergency power.
Replacement of the two existing generators with two new 1000 kVA generators and new 34.5 kV electrical service, provided the campus with power to meet current and future needs. Electrical design included a 480V – 34.5 kV step up transformer and a 34.5 kV transfer switch.
Due to the location of the roof top unit serving the surgical unit, Strobic air exhaust fans were designed and placed on each generator unit.
An exhaust air plenum was designed to the control engine and fan noise due to the close proximity of residential housing.
Mechanical engineering design services encompassed a 10,000 gallon underground storage tank, day tanks, lift pump, fuel piping, exhaust piping, piping insulation, and louvers. Mechanical design services also included heating, ventilation, and plumbing design for a new Generator Room and Switchgear Room.
